- Apple peels, cores, or chopped apples organic if possible
- Filtered water
- Honey or maple syrup or coconut sugar
Fill the jar about ¾ full with apple scraps. If using whole apples, chop them up first.2. Dissolve a spoonful of sugar or honey in filtered water and pour it over the apples until fully submerged.3. Cover the jar with cheesecloth or a clean kitchen towel. Secure with a rubber band so it can breathe but stay bug-free.4. Let it sit at room temperature (away from direct sunlight) for about 2-3 weeks. Stir every few days and make sure apples stay submerged (use a fermentation weight if needed).5. Strain out the apples after 2-3 weeks. Pour the liquid back into the jar, cover again with the cloth, and let it ferment for another 3-4 weeks.6. Taste test! When it smells and tastes vinegary, it's ready. Transfer to a bottle with a lid and store in a cool place.
