Ingredients

  • 1 lbs Fresh chrzan
  • 1/4 cup Apple cider vinegar
  • 3 tbsp Lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup Sour cream optional, but it helps with spiciness

Instructions

  • Peel the fresh horseradish root with a vegetable peeler or a knife. The outer layer can be tough, so a knife will come in handy.
    2. Grate the horseradish finely. You can do this with a microplane, fine grater, or food processor. I do it in a food processor.
    3. Add sour cream, lemon juice, and salt, and pulse to combine.
    4. Mix until the condiment is smooth and creamy, yet still retains some texture from the grated root.
    5. Once finished, transfer the chrzan to a small jar or serving dish. It is ready to enjoy immediately, though the flavor develops even more after resting in the refrigerator for a short time.
