During the winter, I always find solace in the warmth of a cup that not only soothes the soul but also fortifies my immune system. Sipping herbal teas was a lovely ritual for my family during the winter months. We always had a lot of different dry herbs that we foraged and dried in our pantry during the warm months of the year. This recipe is my favorite family winter tea recipe, and it comes from my family herbal remedies recipe book. It contains all the herbs we like to put in our tea that satisfy all the family members. I’ll share the recipe and the health benefits of each ingredient, allowing you to sip your way to winter wellness. This infusion of herbs is perfect for this time of year, flu season, and contains my favorite immune-boosting herbs.

If you like your tea spicy, add cayenne pepper like I do, and add fresh turmeric root if you like.

Ingredients for Immune-Boosting Herbal Winter Tea Elixir

  • 2 oranges, sliced
  • A handful of blue spruce needles
  • 2 apples, sliced
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 2 tablespoons juniper berries
  • 3 sprigs of rosemary
  • 10 cardamom pods
  • 1 tablespoon fennel seeds
  • 2 cups of cranberries
  • 2 tablespoons honey or sweetener of your choice
  • 1/4 cup of rose hips
  • 3 inches of ginger
  • 1/4 cup of rose petals

How to make it:

  1. Prepare the Ingredients: Wash and slice the orange, ginger, cranberries and apple. Add 6 cups of water in a medium-sized pot. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes. 
  2. Combine in a Pot: Add the blue spruce needles, cinnamon sticks, juniper berries, rosemary, cardamom pods, rose petals, rosehips, and fennel seeds into the water.
  3. Infuse Flavors: Cover the pot with a lid and infuse for 20 minutes, letting the aroma fill your kitchen.
  4. Strain and Serve: Strain the tea to remove the solid ingredients. Pour the liquid into your favorite mug.
  5. Sweeten with Honey: Add honey to taste, stirring until it dissolves. Honey not only sweetens but also enhances the immune-boosting properties of the tea.
  6. Sip and Enjoy: Serve this cup of tea with a lemon slice or freshly squeezed lemon juice. Allow the steam to rise, bringing the comforting fragrance to your senses. Sip slowly, savoring the blend of flavors and nourishing your body with each sip.

Ingredients

  • 3 Rosmary springs
  • 10 Cardamon pods
  • 1 tbsp Fennel seeds

  • 2 tbsp Honey or sweetener of your choice
  • 1/4 cup Rose hips
  • 3 inches Fresh ginger sliced

Instructions
