Why Detox
The new year is approaching, and many of us set new year’s goals. Lots of us want to lose weight and get healthier. Detox can help you with that.
Detoxing has been practiced for centuries. In ancient Biblical times, fasting was a typical method of cleansing the body to get rid of harmful toxins and spiritually purify it. These days, there are tons of detoxification strategies to reduce the toxins in your body. The Good News is that you can drink those toxins away.
What is Detoxification?
Detoxification is a natural process during which your body rids itself of toxins through feces, urine, bile, or sweat. You can detox your body with foods, sweating, or making detox drinks like the ones you have in this Guide.
Is Detox Essential?
Some nutritional experts maintain that the body has the ability to detox on its own and it does not need support. Some believe the concept of detoxing by following a long-term diet of whole and healthy foods. I know this to be true: we live in a world filled with toxins, so the more you support your body to cleanse, the healthier you feel.
Why Start a Detox?
There are many detox programs that can support your body to release toxins and it is suggested we detox at least 4 times a year. By detoxing, your immune system will be stronger and many find they have less skin issues. Many experience better sleep after a detox. If you would like to start a detox program, just contact me.
Why Choose Detox Drinks?
A detox drink is any kind of drink that helps your body remove toxins, promote weight loss, improve energy, cleanse the liver, or any combination of these. They are also called cleansing drinks or detox cleanse drinks. They typically include some combination of water with vegetables, fruits, herbs, and other natural ingredients that increase the body’s ability to get rid of toxins from the system. Some more common detox drinks include detox smoothies, detox juice, detox tea, and detox water.

Our world is full of pollutants, from the food we eat and the air we breathe to what we put on our bodies and the water we drink. We must release the toxins to be healthy and free of disease.
To cleanse your body, you just need clean water, a BPA-free or glass bottle, and fresh ingredients.

JUICES
Another healthy way to eliminate and cleanse your body is to drink detox juices made from organic fruits and vegetables. Juicing machines can be bought on Amazon.com or at Bed, Bath and Beyond. Juicing fruits and vegetables extracts all the rich vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that help replenish, restore, and repair the body. Choose organic produce because any chemicals or pesticides that are on or in the produce will transfer straight into your juice and into your body.
Nearly any combination of fruits and vegetables is possible. Check out some juices recipes here.
Ingredients for Detox Drinks
Most of the ingredients for a detox drink can be found in your kitchen, grocery store, or local farmers market. Here are some of the most common ingredients for detox drinks and juices, and a few reasons why you might consider them in your recipes.
Watermelon – Watermelon is about 90 % water. It is rich in nutrients and a great way to remove unhealthy toxins stored in our bodies. Watermelon supports better blood oxidation, helps relax blood vessels, and can reduce inflammation. It is also rich in potassium and Vitamins A and B, which help support anti-aging.
Watermelon gets its color from a high concentration of lycopene, a type of carotenoid. Lycopene plays a vital role in the prevention of many chronic diseases, such as osteoporosis and hypertension. Watermelon is also a good source of potassium and magnesium, which play crucial roles in the body’s detoxification and hydration.
Cucumber—Cucumbers are also mostly water, making them perfect for a detox drink. They are low in calories and high in fiber, which is a necessary combination in any diet plan. Cucumbers are rich in Vitamin B, potassium, and magnesium, which helps reduce high blood pressure. They also contain an anti-inflammatory component that supports brain health.
Lemon—Lemons help cleanse your body and aid your stomach in food digestion. Their acidic qualities are similar to stomach acid, which helps keep food moving and digesting.
Lime – Limes also help eliminate toxins from the body. They can help stimulate the liver, improve your body’s absorption of minerals, and help promote weight loss.
Grapefruit – Grapefruit cleanses the liver and removes toxins from the body. The fruit is helpful in maintaining the liver and is commonly suggested for weight loss, better metabolism, and a healthy organ system.
Raspberries – The nutritional components of raspberries may be effective in losing extra weight. They can also help regulate digestion and avoid a bloated stomach.
Strawberries – Strawberries help relax the liver and kidneys. They are rich in Vitamins A, C, E and K, and are a great source of iron. They are great for cleansing the body and promoting a healthy organ system.

Simply add 2 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice, 2 tablespoons of real maple syrup and a dash of cayenne pepper to 8 ounces of clean water. Consume a glass to jumpstart your day.
Green Detox Drink – If you are thinking of integrating a detox drink into a bigger healthy lifestyle plan, try a green detox drink packed with vegetables. Common green detox drink recipes include carrots, kale leaves, celery stalks, beets, turnips, spinach, a bunch of parsley, onion, garlic, and cabbage.
Detox Dandelion Tea – Detox Dandelion Tea is a good source of Vitamin A, iron, potassium, and calcium. It is a great solution for eliminating toxins because it is a mild diuretic, helping to flush out your kidneys and liver. Steep for 10 minutes and enjoy.

Cranberry juice is loaded with properties that can help reduce the effects of UTIs, ulcers, and other related diseases. Cranberry juice contains manganese, vitamin C, and antioxidants that help flush toxins from your system. Dilute cranberry juice in a glass of water and add 1 tablespoon each of psyllium fiber and apple pectin for gentle intestinal elimination.
Charcoal Black Lemonade – It may not sound appealing or delicious, but Charcoal Black Lemonade tastes like regular lemonade. Charcoal is extremely effective in removing toxins and impurities from the body and is a good alternative to medication for stomachaches.
You need:

- 1 capsule of charcoal
- Juice of 1 lemon
- Sweetener of choice (maple syrup grade b, stevia)
To make:
